FLASH FLOOD CITY

about

During a flash flood on Memorial Day 2015 I brought my cassette recorder outside and captured a field recording of the storm that was flooding Austin. While the recorder was running, I went inside and was able to record a few "rain inspired" guitar loops before the power went out in my neighborhood. Upon listening to the two recorded sketches I decided to combine them and have each part flow into and out of each other, just as the water outside was doing. This amalgamation of the organic, analog, and digital manipulation resulted in the creation of "Flash Flood City" - a 10 minute ambient piece that pays tribute to the power of nature and its destructive forces.
